Eighteen years keeping cloud & networks online, secure & cost-efficient.

I'm Dexter — building and supporting cloud and carrier infrastructure for enterprises, ISPs and telcos since 2009. As a Technical Account Manager I embed with engineering teams as their trusted advisor: architecting solutions, killing wasted spend, and untangling complex networks.

Areas of Expertise

From AWS to carrier networks — the full stack I've worked across

Eighteen years across cloud, enterprise and carrier infrastructure — currently as a Technical Account Manager at AWS, advising ISVs across EMEA on architecture, cost, security and governance.

01 / FinOps

Cloud cost optimization

Deep experience tracing AWS spend down to the resource level — identifying waste, rightsizing, and designing guardrails that keep costs under control without slowing engineering teams down.

› spend audit & quick wins› Savings Plans & RI strategy› cost guardrails & reporting
▸ IMPACT · Teams regularly see 20–40% reduction in AWS spend
02 / Networking

Cloud & enterprise networking

VPCs, Transit Gateways and Direct Connect architected to carrier standards — segmented, resilient and built to scale across regions and into on-prem. BGP, WAN and Zero Trust in depth.

› VPC · Transit Gateway · Direct Connect› enterprise WAN & carrier design› Zero Trust · BGP routing
▸ IMPACT · Multi-region hybrid architectures across EMEA
03 / Governance

Cloud governance

Multi-account landing zones, security baselines and guardrails that let engineering teams move fast without losing control of the blast radius — built to scale as organisations grow.

› landing zone & account strategy› security & compliance baseline› Zero Trust patterns on AWS
▸ IMPACT · Landing zones adopted by growing ISVs at AWS
04 / Carrier

Network & systems engineering

A decade of carrier and enterprise routing & switching across Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, ZTE and Ericsson — BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS L2/L3 VPNs, and high-availability edge design.

› BGP · OSPF · IS-IS · MPLS› L2/L3 VPNs · VXLAN› multi-vendor HA design
▸ IMPACT · Carrier networks deployed across 12+ countries
05 / Core Services

DNS, DHCP & IPAM at scale

Authoritative and recursive DNS (BIND9, Infoblox), DHCP at carrier scale (KEA), TACACS+ and IP address management — built and operated at scale across large service provider environments.

› BIND9 · Infoblox · KEA DHCP› TACACS+ & IPAM› carrier-scale DDI operations
▸ IMPACT · BIND9 + KEA serving 500k+ subscribers
06 / Observability

Monitoring & observability

NMS and observability stacks from Huawei U2000 to Grafana, Zabbix and Datadog — turning noise into signal with dashboards and alerting that NOC teams can actually act on.

› Grafana · Zabbix · Datadog · LibreNMS› Huawei U2000 · Cacti› NOC dashboards & capacity insight
▸ IMPACT · Single-pane visibility across large estates
About

18 years making complex infrastructure work

From network operations centers across Africa and the Caribbean to advising EMEA's fastest-growing ISVs at AWS, I've spent my career keeping critical infrastructure running and helping teams build it better. Earlier in my career I deployed carrier-grade networks across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad, Bermuda and more.

Today, as a Technical Account Manager in AWS's ISV-EMEA team based in Stockholm, I act as a dedicated cloud advisor embedded with engineering teams — running Well-Architected Reviews, optimizing costs, designing secure network topologies, and establishing governance frameworks that scale.

2023 — now Technical Account Manager, ISV-EMEA · Amazon Web Services
2021 — 2023 Cloud Support Engineer II · Amazon Web Services
2018 — 2021 Senior Network Engineer · Tangent
2017 — 2018 Network Engineer (Consultant) · Huawei
2010 — 2017 Network Ops & Support Lead · Liquid Intelligent Technologies
Before AWS — Network & Systems Engineering

A decade-plus as a network and systems engineer across carrier and enterprise environments — multi-vendor routing and switching, core network services, and the monitoring stacks that keep them visible. I ran BIND9 and KEA DHCP serving over 500,000 subscribers.
